Our technical platform is simply unique! We were the
first (and most likely still the only) web hosting provider
hosting all clients on clustered systems. Such systems
provides the most stable and powerful environment for

How can you offer so much for so low prices?
It is really a numbers game. Because our clusters uses
extreme amounts of data transfer and disk space we are
able to negotiate very advantageous contracts with our
subcontractors – we then pass these savings on to you!
Are there any hidden charges?
Absolutely not! Everything is included in the price shown
on our website, unlike most other companies your domain
(including yearly renewal fee) is included in the low
monthly price.
How do I view my site?
Before DNS propagation completes (48-72 hours) you can
view your site via an IP address. If you do not have a
dedicated IP, goto http://SERVERIP/~username/
Make sure you have the trailing slash on the end. This
url should be in your welcome email. If you have a dedicate
IP, goto http://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS
What is propagation?
When visitors type your domain name into their Web browsers,
their request is referred to a nameserver that indicates
the physical location (the IP address) of your domain
on the Internet. When your site location changes to a
new IP address, or when you deploy a new site with a new
domain name, nameservers around the world must be notified
of the change. This process of notification is referred
to as propagation. Propagation typically takes 24 to 48
hours.
I have a public_html and a
www dir with the same files in them. Is this not using
2 times the disk space?
No, www is a link to public_html the files you see are
the same files. They are in effect the same folder with
two names.
Server and Network Questions
What are the specifications of your servers?
Our servers consist of a minimum of 4096 mb DDR RAM with
Dual Intel Xeon P4 Processors.
How many sites do you host on each server?
We do not have a predefined limit, nor can we give you
an estimate. Resource usage is continually evaluated on
each server to ensure there are no bottlenecks in the
serving of your web pages. You'll find each and everyone
of our servers extremely responsive as we never overload
our servers.
Who monitors your servers?
Our data center monitors our servers 24hrs a day 7 days
a week, hence we are alerted to any problems within minutes,
we have an arrangement with the data center to immediately
notify us and begin troubleshooting any problems. For
integrity we also use Alertra third-party monitoring service.
How often do you upgrade your servers?
We take a proactive approach to upgrading our servers
and ensure upgrades are carried out well before resource
capacity is reached. Occasionally we will install more
memory or increase the processing power.
What OS do your servers run? Do you run Windows or
UNIX?
We run Linux/Unix on our servers. Linux is a robust,
highly efficient, multi-user, stable and reliable operating
system. Linux runs the vast majority of Internet web sites;
we estimate that over 65% of web sites utilize Linux servers.
Billing and Fee Questions
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards directly (Visa, Mastercard, Discover,
American Express). If you would like to pay by check,
debit card or any other payment method we also accept
paypal. A trusted 3rd party company who is owned by eBay.
How often should I pay?
If you choose PayPal or Credit Card as payment method
you are able to choose quarterly, bi-yearly or yearly
billing.
What are the setup fees?
There are no setup fees on any hosting account.
Do you accept international orders?
Yes. We have customers from all around the world using
our web hosting services. If desired, we can host domain
name extensions from any country. All international accounts
must be paid for by credit card or paypal.
Can I upgrade/downgrade my plan at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your account at any
time with no additional fees. Just open a helpdesk ticket
and request the upgrade/downgrade.
I have a question about my bill. Who do i contact?

You can't view your credit card information but you can
update your credit card information. You can view all
paid and unpaid invoices. You can also update your contact

No, We do not host adult-sites.
Can I upload MP3s for download by visitors?
You can use your web space as you please. Hence as long
as you have distributions rights and own the copyright
on the MP3s then you can upload them. You can not store
or publish MP3s for which you do not own the copyright
or have permission to distribute.
Do you host warez, appz or serialz websites?
We do not host any warez related websites, this includes
sites web linking to such material.
Do you allow any extreme right-wing or left-wing content?
Unfortunately due to the increased risk of denial of
service attacks on such web sites we can not host any
extreme right-wing or left-wing content, this includes
but not limited to web sites aimed at provoking racial
tension.

What control panel do you issue to clients?
Every account created comes with cPanel 9. cPanel is
a fully-featured web-based control panel that allows you
to manage your domain through a web interface. The idea
is to transfer as much of the control and responsibility
of managing your web site to you. You have the ability
to manage all aspects of email, files, backup, FTP, CGI
scripts, and web site statistics.

Can I create, modify and delete e-mail accounts from
the control panel?
Yes, you can create, modify and delete mail accounts,
forwards, autoresponders, filters and mailing lists in

Can I create add-on and parked domain from the control
panel?
Yes, parking a domain on top of your primary account
and creating add-on domains can be done in realtime from
within the control panel.
Do you have a Spanish/German version of the control
panel?
Yes, we have control panel themes with spanish and german
language support.
Customer Care Questions
What kind of technical support do you offer?
Technical support is available free to all clients. If
you are having a problem with your account we will troubleshoot
it for you and if necessary correct the problem. This
does not include help with development, fixing script
errors or aiding in your website creation in anyway.
Do you offer 24 hour a day 7 days a week support?
Our support e-mail address is checked every few hours,
every day of week, throughout the year. We aim to respond
to all clients within 6hrs, however as many clients have
found we often respond within the hour, sometimes within
minutes.
How much assistance do you provide for my website?
In the event of an emergency you can rest assure that
we already working on a resolution to the problem. Our
servers are continually monitored by the data-center and
by a third-party monitoring company called Alertsite.
Data-center technicians are on hand 24hrs a day for hands-on
that may required on any of our servers.
How is my website monitored?
The best way to contact support is to raise a ticket
by visiting our helpdesk.
Script Features
What version of PHP do your servers use?
We use PHP 4.3.4 We upgrade to the latest version of
PHP regularly to ensure hassle-free development and security.
What file extension must php files have?
PHP files must have the .php extension in order to be
recognized as PHP files by the server.
Do you offer free CGI Scripts?
Can I use my own CGI scripts, programs, etc?
Where must .cgi files be placed?
CGI files can be created in any directory. The cgi-bin
folder is just like any other folder and is only created
by default because of tradition.
My script returns internal server error?
This usually occurs when permissions are loosely set.
Try giving 755 and/or 777 permission to your scripts.
Do you support FrontPage Extensions?
If you use Microsoft FrontPage 98, 2000 or 2002 to publish
pages to the Web, you will need FrontPage extensions supported.
We support FrontPage 98, 2000 and 2002 Extensions free
of charge.
Can I use Flash on my site?
Yes, you can use Flash on your Web Site.
Do your accounts include visitor and site statistics?
Yes! The control panel has Webalizer and Analog built
into it and shows detailed information about who is visiting
and when they visited your site. We also show you which
pages are being accessed and how much traffic you are
moving
Do you have any pre-installed scripts?
There are several scripts which can be installed on your
website automatically via fantastico.
Do you have ImageMagick installed?
Yes, we have the ImageMagick module installed.
Domain Transfer and Registration
Do you support International domain names?
Yes we fully support international domain names, however
it is your responsibility to manage them or if transferring
to modify the nameservers to the one mentioned in our
account activation email. Refer to your domain registrar
for further instructions.
Do I own domains registered through HostExit.com?
Yes, we do not lock domain names. You have full control
of your domain name as you are the legal owner.
What nameservers should I use?
You need to use our nameservers as:
ns1.hostexit.com
ns2.hostexit.com
Can I transfer my domain to HostExit.com?
If you are transferring a domain to HostExit.com then
you need to update the nameserver records on the domain
to the nameservers mentioned in your activation email.
Nameservers are required to point your domain to the correct
location, failure to update the nameserver records will
result in your domain pointing elsewhere. To update your
nameserver records contact your domain registrar or the
company responsible for purchasing your domain.
